Fostering College Success Initiative:
Application Form for New Students

Welcome to the application form for the Fostering College Success Initiative (FCSI).

FCSI supports youth in foster care who are attending college. The following services are available from The New York Foundling: Tutoring, Coaching, and Career Advisement. Below you will find additional details about the program, eligibility, and application process.

Program Services:

  • Tutoring is provided in subjects that students find most challenging, as well as in general study skills and writing. Tutoring usually takes place in hour-long, individual sessions. Group sessions and team study halls are also offered to all students in the program.
  • Through Coaching, students are paired with a College Success Coach with whom they meet at least once a week. At the meetings, coaches support students with socio-emotional and practical needs, which includes support with financial plans and life skills.
  • Career counselors meet with students individually and in groups to help students explore career options and plan for their futures after they graduate. Career counseling includes help with resume writing, interviewing skills, and obtaining internships and externships.

*If you are interested in receiving additional benefits such as tuition & fees assistance, meal plan, housing assistance, and daily living stipend, please make sure to apply to the College Choice Program (ACS).
